LISBON EXPO'98 VISION Of The Future Pavilion The pavilion was design by Portuguese architects Paula Santos, Rui Ramos and Miguel Guedes. Its objective was to raise the awareness of the Oceans future, by examining current problems and possible conservation measures that are important for the Earth's survival. The building embodies the idea of the future and uses materials widely used in ship-building. The building was divided into six separate areas taking visitors on a journey from the outer limits of the universe to the bottomless depths of the ocean. Each section shows a specific point of view. In the foreground, a Water Volcano erupts every 40 seconds or so and was a favorite attraction for children as they dared others to time the explosion and dodge the waterspout. © 1992 Raul
