Expo'98 From Vasco de Gama Tower

The green area next to the river was named Garcia de Orta Gardens and was intended to relate the exchanges in the Plant Kingdom that came with the Discovery of the Oceans. The transfer of plants from continent to continent by the Portuguese is practically unknown by the rest of the world. These Gardens showed the characteristic vegetation of the various ecosystems considered representative of the main areas which produce the species. The gardens cover a total area of approximately 4,570 SQ. YD. In the foreground bellow, Sony Plaza amphitheater, the North International Area and a panoramic view consisting of 160 acres where the 1998 Worlds Fair took place.
