LISBON EXPO'98 VISION Utopia Pavilion Designed by American architects SOM Skidmore Owings & Merrill, Inc., and Portuguese architect Regino Cruz., this multipurpose arena is made of a concrete foundation with wood beams trusses topped with metal skin roofing. Its interior design features consist of laminated wood beams that reach a span of 390-feet topped by a timber ceiling resembling a ship’s hull. Housed in the 320,000 Sq. Ft. structure, there is seating for 17,500 guests who enjoyed a multimedia spectacle showcasing the history of Mankind imagination and of the Oceans Utopias. This state of the art pavilion will become Portugal's largest multipurpose arena hosting all types of events and conferences. © 1992 Raul
