LISBON EXPO'98 VISION Utopia Pavilion Lobby Designed by American architects SOM Skidmore Owings & Merrill, Inc., and Portuguese architect Regino Cruz, This multipurpose arena is made of a concrete foundation with wood beam trusses toped with metal skin roofing. Its interior design features consist of laminated wood beams that reach a span of 390-feet topped by timber ceiling resembling a ship’s hull. Housed in the 320,000 Sq. Ft. structure, there is seating for 17,500 guests who enjoyed a multimedia spectacle showcasing the history of Mankind imagination and of the Oceans Utopias. This pavilion will become Portugal's largest multipurpose arena hosting all types of events and conferences after EXPO is completed. © 1992 Raul
